Prof. Burcu Balçık, faculty member in the Industrial Engineering Department and Academic Director of the OzU Sustainability Platform, has been honored with the prestigious Research and Academic Contributions Award by the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN).
Established in 2017, the ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Awards recognize individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Prof. Balçık was named among this year’s distinguished winners in recognition of her pioneering work in data-driven decision-making.
Prof. Balçık is renowned for her innovative research in stock pre-positioning, aid distribution planning, supplier framework agreements, and needs assessment planning. Through her collaborations with researchers around the world, she has developed new methods and tools that support effective and fair decision-making in disaster preparedness and response. This award not only celebrates Prof. Balçık’s outstanding contributions but also strengthens OzU’s growing global presence and leadership in humanitarian logistics and sustainable development.
