Our Graduate Architecture Students Reach the Finals of “Field Station” and Win the “Community Choice Award”
Özyeğin University students continue to make their mark on the international stage, earning significant acclaim and showcasing their creative and academic excellence worldwide.
A project developed by Architecture PhD students Fırat Ali Fırat and İrem Ezgi Çiftçi, together with Architecture master’s students Ece Kıy and Beril Baş, advanced to the finals of The Field Station, an international competition organized by Italy-based TerraViva. The team’s project also received the Community Choice Award, further underscoring its impact and resonance within the global architecture community.
The project, “Tidal Nexus,” was conceived as a research campus located in a tidal zone in Virginia, U.S., with a strong focus on resilience and adaptability. The design carefully considers the ecological balance between land and water, proposing an architectural design that acts as a mediator between the two. Envisioned as a campus housing research facilities, residential spaces, and public pedestrian pathways, the project brings together science, society, and nature through a sustainable architectural approach.
