Özyeğin University’s applied, sector-integrated education model continues to translate academic excellence into distinguished achievements.

This success was once again affirmed as students from the Faculty of Architecture and Design returned from the 23rd Piranesi Prix de Rome 2025 in Italy with two prestigious awards, bringing pride to our OzU Family. This year, the competition drew 179 students and 26 teams from around the world, showcasing emerging talent from leading architecture schools. Özyeğin University was represented by 10 students under the leadership of Dr. İdil Erdemir Kocagil and Dr. Luca Orlandi from the Faculty of Architecture and Design.

The team, which included Damlasu Demir, a senior student in the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design program, was awarded the Premio Piranesi Prix de Rome. Additionally, senior Architecture students Shanzay Ali Shah, Wajeeh Ur Rehman, and Sezin Güve, as well as our junior Architecture student Elif Dakdevir, received an Honorable Mention.

Recognized as one of the most prestigious international student competitions in architecture, the Piranesi Prix de Rome continues to bring together students from the world’s leading schools of architecture. Held annually at the Villa Adriana archaeological site in Tivoli, Italy, the competition features an intensive two-week design workshop, during which projects are developed and evaluated by a distinguished international jury.
