At Özyeğin University, we continue to contribute to international research collaborations that address the future of sustainable food systems. Assistant Professor Suzan Tireki and Research Assistant Betül Oral from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program will represent our university as project partners in the newly funded Fix-APro project (Total Budget : ~€1.8M).

Under the leadership of Middle East Technical University (METU) as the coordinator of the project, the initiative has been awarded funding through the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges Programme (MSCA) 2025 call. The project titled “Fix-APro – Fixing Alternative Proteins: Overcoming Key Challenges for Practical Integration into Food Systems” aims to address critical scientific, technological, and societal challenges that currently limit the widespread adoption of alternative proteins.

The project brings together a diverse consortium of academic and industry partners to foster stronger collaboration between research and practice. Alongside METU as the project coordinator, the consortium includes Özyeğin University, Plant-Based Foods Association of Türkiye (BİTKİDEN), Tat Gıda Sanayi AŞ, and Yayla Agro Gıda Sanayi A.Ş. By combining expertise from academia, industry, and civil society, the initiative seeks to accelerate the practical integration of alternative protein sources into food systems.

Through the Fix-APro project, we strengthen our engagement in global research networks while advancing innovative approaches to sustainable food innovation. The grant once again highlights Özyeğin University’s commitment to sustainable food research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international research excellence.
