Developed jointly by Industrial Design students Selin Anzerlioğlu, Ayşe Zeynep Hocaoğlu, and Zeynep Işıl Rabuş, and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students Alkım Emir and Berkant Binici, the “Kıyı” project was featured in the INTERDEPENDENCE 2026 exhibition at Fabbrica del Vapore as part of the Milan Design Fair.

Created in partnership with Bonna, “Kıyı” reimagines the contemporary fine dining experience, drawing inspiration from rituals rooted in Turkish culinary heritage. Conceiving the table as a landscape, our students designed porcelain tableware pieces that seamlessly blend functional, sensory, and interactive elements.

“Kıyı” was developed as part of the IDE 301–302 Design Studio III–IV project course, led by Prof. Şebnem Timur, Instructor Dr. Emrah Özturan, and Research Assistant Dr. Pelin Günay from the Department of Industrial Design, with Prof. Özge Samancı from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts serving as advisor. Students from different disciplines came together during the 2024–2025 Fall semester to develop collaborative projects as part of the course.

Selected for an exhibition bringing together Politecnico di Milano and 50 design universities from around the world, “Kıyı” demonstrates how interdisciplinary education can generate creative outputs that gains visibility on international design platforms.
